Kathmandu. Chitralekha Yadav has been elected to the post of central member of Province No- 2 (Women) of the Nepali Congress(NC).
The counting of votes for the post central member under the 14th General Convention of the Nepali Congress is taking place since Friday.
Yadav won the post with 2,731 votes while her nearest rival Geeta Chaudhary got 1,885 votes, said the party's Central Election Committee Coordinator Gopal Krishna Ghimire. A total of 4,662 votes were cast in the election while 46 of them were termed invalid.
According to the Congress statute, Ramesh Rijal and Ananda Prasad Dhungana have already been elected unopposed to the two posts of Central Member representation Province No. 2 (Male).
The counting of votes of 35 central members will start from 10 am today, according to the Committee.
